Service Needed Name Job Description Deliverables
Project Profile We will generate a Project Profile to define your Project based on your brief description (written or verbal) and rough sketches. This document will provide the foundation for your project, providing the information needed for designing and building a prototype, obtaining protection for your Intellectual Property (IP) and eventually pitching your Project to investors. '- Project Profile
Prototype Design We will use your Project Profile and whatever supporting documents you have (specifications, drawings, documents and parts list) to generate a detailed design for your prototype. The design will include specifications, mechanical/electronic drawings and software source code. '- Documents - Drawings - Source Code
Prototype Build We will use your Prototype Design to fabricate, assemble and test your prototype. Once you have had a chance to evaluate, test and approve the initial prototype, additional copies can be produced if needed. '- Prototype unit (assembled & operational)
Patent Search We will use your Project Profile to conduct a worldwide search of registered patents, looking for content that is relevant to your idea. Based on the search results, we will generate a Legal Opinion that shows a comparison of your idea with others and a recommendation on whether or not you should prepare and file a patent application. If your project is novel but similar to prior art, we may recommend making some changes in order improve your chances of success. This is a low-cost but very important step, as it sets the stage for all subsequent work related to your project. Also, it can save you a significant amount of time and money that might otherwise be spent on trying to protect and develop something that is already protected by another patent. '- Relevant Patents - Legal Opinion
Provisional Patent Application We will use your Project Profile, Prototype Design and Patent Search results to prepare and file a provisional patent application. This will include informal drawings and text that clearly describes your invention. Claims will not be defined in this document. You will receive a draft copy to review, edit and approve before we file it with the USPTO. Once filed, you will have one year to file a nonprovisional patent application in order to claim the benefits of the provisional filing date. You will be able to use the term "patent pending" on related documents and when discussing the status of your Invention. '- Draft Application (for review) - Final Application - Filing Receipt
Non-Provisional Patent Application We will use your existing background information (e.g., Project Profile, Patent Search results, Provisional Patent Application) to prepare and file a non-provisional patent application. This will include a formal description, drawings, and claims relating to your project. Once filed and granted, the patent will provide up to 20 years of protection from its filing date. If a related provisional patent application was filed, the 20 years of protection will start from the provisional filing date. '- Draft Application (for review) - Final Application - Filing Receipt
Design Patent We will use your sketches and description to prepare and file a Design Patent application. The Design Patent protects the way your Invention looks rather than how it works. You will receive a draft copy of the application to review and approve prior to filing. Once filed and granted, the patent will provide you with 15 years of protection from the filing date. '- Draft Application (for review) - Final Application - Filing Receipt
Patent Prosecution We will begin the prosecution of your non-provisional or design patent application after it has been filed and starts the review cycle in the patent office. Our prosecutor will defend your patent against causes for rejection presented by the patent inspector. This process typically involves several rounds of negotiations and potential changes to patent content before the patent is actually granted. This process in not always successful due to a number of factors (e.g. a similar patent was granted after your patent search was completed). '- Correspondence with patent office - Granted Patent
Trademark Search We will conduct a search of trademarks registered with the USPTO, looking for content that is relevant to your request. Based on the search results, we will generate a search report that will show a comparison of your proposed trademark with others and a recommendation on whether or not you should file a trademark application. '- Relevant Trademarks - TM Search Report
Trademark Application We will use the results of your trademark search to prepare and file a trademark application. Once granted, your trademark will be protected for least 10 years starting from the filing date. The protection can last indefinitely if the trademark remains active in commerce and maintenance documents are filed on time. '- Filing Receipt - Granted Trademark *
Copyright Search We will conduct a search of registered copyrighted material, looking for content that is relevant to your request. Based on the search results, we will generate a search report that will show a comparison of your copyrighted material with others and a recommendation on whether or not you should file a copyright application. '- Relevant Copyrights - CR Search Report
Copyright Application We will use your copyright search results to prepare and file a copyright application. Once granted, the copyright will keep others from using your material for the duration of your life plus 70 years. '- Filing receipt - Granted Copyright *
Pitch Deck We will generate a pitch deck using your Project Profile and any other documents relating to your project that are available, such as; 1) pending or granted patents, trademarks and/or copyrights, 2) prototype design, 3) prototype assemblies and 4) financial projections. '- Draft PitchDeck - Final Pitch Deck
Contract Preparation Once one or more potential investors have agreed to proceed with a contract, we can negotiate on your behalf for the best possible deal. Once mutual agreement is reached by all parties, we will generate and finalize the agreements required to sell or license the rights to your project. '- Draft Agreements - Signed Agreement - Payment
