How did you pick the AC units for review?
These units were picked from websites that review, test and recommend portable air conditioners.
Your reviews on portable air conditioners are informative but limited. Are you going to expand your listing to more sizes and types?
We plan to focus on reviewing only PACs in the range of 8000 to 14000 BTUs. However, we will continually add more choices within these ranges.
Your recommended wood is a major cost for the platform project. Why can't I just use plywood?
Yes, you can use other types of wood including plywood. We selected a high quality wood for the parts that show (e.g. top, bottom and side panels) so the platform will look like a nice piece of furniture. If needed, you can use veneer, paint or finish to improve or customize the look of low cost wood.
If my ac unit shoots water out of the air hose, why is there a water drain plug ?
Many of the newer PAC models have a built-in pump that expels water through the exhaust hose. However, this is not always 100% effective and an internal water tank is normally provided to collect any excess water. At some point this internal tank will need to be removed and a drain outlet is provided for that purpose.
Cant you just hook a hose to the drain plug and let the water go out the other end?
